Spring 2010 Registration is now closed.  For Spring 2011 information, please check back in December.

Note: In order to be eligible to play Spring Soccer 2011, you MUST register and play AYSO Fall 2010 Soccer.

AYSO Spring League Information

- For more information about the Area-1D Spring League, go to http://ayso1d.clubspaces.com/PageCustom.aspx?id=10&o=345573.  For specific questions pertaining to Region 18 (Manhattan/Hermosa), check back here for updates.

- Coaches put together their own teams, and register the entire team all at once.  There is no draft, and individual players do not register for Spring soccer.  Please proceed accordingly once you (the coach) are approved for Spring League play.  However, we "MAY" need to balance teams due to AYSO regulations.

- To be eligible, a player MUST have been registered AND played AYSO Soccer somewhere during the previous Fall Season, preferably Region 18.  There are NO exceptions.  No AYSO Fall Registration means you are ineligible for the following Spring season.

- The Spring League is open to all AYSO players in U5/U6 up through U19 who registered and played the previous Fall season.  A U16 and U19 Division will be created if there are enough teams (there are typically enough teams).  U5 is the same as U6.  U7 is the same as U8.

- Players will play in the same age group as in the previous Fall season.  For example, if your son/daughter played in U10 during the previous Fall season, he/she will play in U10 for the upcoming Spring season.  U7 is the same as U8, so if your son/daughter played U7/U8 in the Fall 2009, then he/she will play U8 in the Spring 2010.  U5 is the same as U6, so if your son/daughter played U5/U6 in the Fall 2009, then he/she will play U6 in the Spring 2010.

Recommendations for Spring Soccer

- Please read the rules that are posted on the Area1D web site (see above).  Any coach who blatantly violates the rules will not be allowed to coach in Spring the following year and may not be allowed to coach in any other Area events (i.e. All Stars and Area League playoffs).

- The Spring League is administered at the Area level, not the Region 18 level.  All decisions are final and not open to debate.

- The Spring League includes teams from North Redondo, South Redondo, El Segundo, Hawthorne, Westchester, Lennox, and Manhattan/Hermosa.  The level of play is higher than in the Fall season.  There are Select and Rec divisions (i.e. Gold and Silver) for U10, U12 and U14 age groups.

- Make sure all of your players are on your official roster.  Use of illegal players for games will be dealt with severely.  Make sure you have the appropriate AYSO logo on your uniform jerseys.

- You are strongly advised to have 2-3 parents who are certified referees on your team.

- You are strongly advised to have 1 coach and 1-2 assistant coaches on your team (all age appropriate certified).  Do not attempt to play a game without a certified coach (listed on your registration form) on the sideline.  For any violations, all coaches listed for that team will be dealt with severely.

- Due to frequent absences in the Spring, you are strongly advised to carry a large roster (U6 - 9 players; U8 - 10 to 12 players; U10 - 13 to 14 players; U12 and U14 - 18 players; U16/19 - 22 players).

- Due to the increased roster sizes, two quarter (i.e. 2/4) playing time is observed in Spring Soccer (see rules), not 3/4 play.

*** Finally, if you are a parent and you want your child to play Spring soccer, it is strongly recommend that you either find a coach who will put your child on his/her Spring team, or coach a team yourself.  You are welcome to send your child's name to the Spring Coordinator, however, no guarantees will be made that the Spring Coordinator will be able to get him/her placed on a team.  The names of coaches who plan to put together a team can be provided, however, by the time the Spring Coordinator finds out the names of the Spring coaches, their teams are typically already full.

Thank you,

Albert Chen
