Marine Avenue Park Turf Project
The Marine Avenue Park Turf project is officially completed. With the installation of the sun shade on the East side of the pitch on July 2014, the City of Manhattan beach has completed the last of the improvements for the soccer complex at Marine Avenue Park. The sunshade is 60 feet long and provides shade for both the bleachers on the east side of the pitch and the sitting area to the north of the bleachers. AYSO R-18 would like to thank the City for helping AYSO R-18 compete such a great project which has already provided thousands and thousands of hours of great soccer for the soccer players of R-18. Over the next nine years (totaling 10 years in all) AYSO will have free use of what is the best soccer pitch in the South Bay. This includes priority use and no charges for using the new lights which were also installed during the turf project.
While this marks the end of this great project, AYSO is working to have a netting system install on the north and west sides of the pitch to reduce the number of soccer balls kicked into the neighboring areas.
Thanks again to everyone who helped make the new turf field, new lighting, and new sun shield happen!!!
