Three Region 18 All-Star Teams Advance to State Finals!

Three of the four teams that won the Area 1D All-Star Tournament have also won Sectionals in Riverside and now advance to the California State Championship.  Congratulations Region 18! 

Congratulations to the BU10 "MB Blue" for winning Sectionals in Riverside after winning the Area Tournament.  They now advance to Bakersfield for State Finals.  The team is coached by Mark Sprague and Greg Meidroth.

Regional Championship Day
December 8th, 2012

This year, Region 18 hosted a special Championship Day at Village Field in Manhattan Beach that hosted the top two divisional playoff teams.  Competition was fierce and fun was had by all!

The Furious Blueberries Win Corona Tournament!

AYSO Region 18 GU10 All Star team “The Furious Blueberries”  won the 2013 Corona Pony Express Youth Soccer Tournament, at which over 180 All Star teams competed from all over California, Nevada, and Arizona.  The Furious Blueberries went 6-0 and outscored their opponents 32-7 over the six games during the Martin Luther King weekend of January 19th-21st, beating Culver City 2-1 in the finals.  The team was coached by Jim Stanfill and Peter Hastings.

The Ninja Turtles Win 2012 Torrance Christmas Classic!

 The Manhattan/Hermosa Ninja Turtles won the GU12 division of the 2012 Torrance Christmas Classic soccer tournament, with a record of 4-0, scoring 15 goals and allowing only 2.  The team was coached by Albert Chen and Missy Forrest.

Region 18 GU10  All-Stars Win 2nd Place in State in 2012!!

Area Champions and Sectional Finalists 'Unexpected' became the first Region 18 GU10 team ever to advance to the State Championship.  In the final four tournament, held in Cathedral City on March 18th, a 2-1 victory over Section 10 representative Tulare put the girls in the finals. They lost a close game to the eventual State Champion, West Covina, which gave Unexpected second place overall in the State of California.  The team's Head Coach is Jeff Herdman and Assistant Coach is Alesia Alonso. Congratulations to all!!

The Sparkling Unicorns Win Downey Tournament

The AYSO GU10 Sparkling Unicorns from Manhattan/Hermosa won the 2011 Downey Memorial Open Soccer Tournament.  With no substitutes on a hot weekend, the team still went undefeated, giving up only one goal the entire tournament.  The team was coached by Ron Launsbach and Albert Chen.

2010 Torrance Christmas Classic GU10 Champions

The AYSO Manhattan/Hermosa Hornets won the GU10 Division Championship of the 2010 Torrance Christmas Classic, with an outstanding record of 6 wins and 0 losses.  The team scored an average of 5 goals per game and played the finals during a torrential downpour.  The team was coached by Ron Launsbach and Peter Hastings (asst coach).
